During Monaco Art Week 2026, the Principality’s most compelling moments are often found beyond the expected gallery walls. This year, one of the most refined and unexpected artistic interventions unfolds at the Aston Martin Monaco Showroom—where automotive excellence is reimagined through the lens of contemporary art.

For the duration of the week, the showroom is transformed by architect and designer David Bitton into an immersive, almost cinematic environment. Known for his cross-disciplinary approach, Bitton blurs the boundaries between architecture, design, and collectible objects—creating a scenography that feels both intellectual and sensorial.

Titled as a dialogue between “speed and vertigo,” the installation reflects a subtle interplay between Bitton’s creative universe and the iconic DNA of Aston Martin—particularly its legendary DB models, long associated with elegance, performance, and cultural mythology. The result is not a static exhibition, but a spatial narrative where art and engineering exist in quiet tension.

At the heart of the installation lies its most striking element: a floating sofa conceived in collaboration with contemporary artist Astro (Gregory Teboul). More than a design object, it is an illusion. Through a sophisticated use of mirrored structures and visual disruption, the piece appears suspended in space—defying gravity and perception.

This sensation of weightlessness is deliberate. It echoes both the thrill of motion and the surreal stillness that defines luxury at its highest level. Limited to just 25 signed and numbered editions, the piece moves seamlessly between collectible design and sculptural artwork, reinforcing Monaco’s position as a market where rarity and innovation converge.

The installation extends beyond a single object. Bitton has conceived the entire showroom as a VIP experiential lounge—an environment designed for collectors, clients, and art connoisseurs to engage with the space intimately. Light, reflection, and materiality are orchestrated to create a sense of fluidity, where surfaces dissolve and perspectives shift with movement.

This approach resonates deeply with Monaco itself—a place where precision meets illusion, and where luxury is defined not only by objects, but by the experiences they create.

Open from 27 April to 1 May 2026, with a private cocktail unveiling on 27 April at 6pm, the installation remains accessible by invitation only, reinforcing its exclusivity within the broader Monaco Art Week programme.

In the context of Art Monte-Carlo and the wider cultural calendar, the Aston Martin intervention stands apart. It does not attempt to compete with galleries or institutions—instead, it redefines the very idea of exhibition space. Here, the car showroom becomes a gallery, the design object becomes an artwork, and the visitor becomes part of the composition.

For Porterium readers, this is where Monaco reveals its most compelling layer: not in the obvious, but in the curated intersections. Where art meets design. Where engineering meets emotion. Where speed dissolves into stillness.

And, for a moment, everything floats.
