Monaco, December 22, 2025 — Founded in the Principality by Massimiliano Mordenti and Erminia Fezia Mordenti, Offroad Club Monaco (OCM) takes the floor this winter to promote an approach to off-piste skiing that is both safe and respectful of nature. Already committed to raising awareness among its members, OCM aims through this press release to reach a wider audience and encourage a responsible, supervised, and environmentally conscious approach to the mountains.

As part of this initiative, Offroad Club Monaco highlights the expertise of a mountain professional — Pier Paolo Ballarè, Director of the Scuola Sci Limone Piemonte — to provide a pedagogical perspective on off-piste skiing. The objective is clear: to share best practices, remind skiers of essential safety rules, and promote a practice that remains in harmony with the natural environment throughout the winter season.

True to its pioneering spirit, Offroad Club Monaco invites skiers to experience adventure off the beaten track, where each descent becomes an exploration. By venturing onto preserved slopes, OCM embraces the audacity of carving new, unmarked paths while fully respecting the mountain and its natural balance. This vision echoes its partnership with the Limone ski school in Italy — a resort renowned for its avant-garde spirit, which was among the first to install a ski lift as early as 1938, marking a turning point in the history of skiing.

The expertise of off-piste skiing, combining safety and respect for the mountain

What are the fundamental elements to know before starting off-piste skiing?
The first essential requirement is to be accompanied by an alpine ski instructor. It is also crucial to access off-piste areas exclusively via ski lifts, in accordance with Italian legislation. Safety equipment is paramount: an avalanche transceiver (ARVA), shovel, and probe are indispensable. The use of an avalanche airbag is strongly recommended, even if not mandatory. One should never forget that the mountain, even when it appears accessible, remains a demanding and potentially dangerous environment that requires thorough preparation.

Why is it essential to ski off-piste with a qualified ski instructor or an alpine guide?
Snow conditions change daily, and even if you know an area well, you will never know it as precisely as a mountain professional. The ski instructor and the alpine guide know how to analyze the terrain, identify risk areas, and adjust the route accordingly. One of the most common mistakes is for a group to cross the same area together, creating a cut in the snow that can trigger an avalanche. The instructor or the guide also knows how to interpret weather indicators and adjust the equipment according to the conditions. Being accompanied ensures safety, preserves the mountain, and allows skiers to fully enjoy the experience.

Is off-piste skiing accessible to everyone, or does it require a specific level?
Off-piste skiing is intended for skiers who are already very comfortable on groomed runs and able to ski red and black slopes without difficulty. It is a demanding and committed sport that requires the ability to react in powder snow and adapt to unprepared terrain. Solid technical skills are essential to approach off-piste skiing with confidence and truly enjoy it.

How can off-piste skiing be practiced with respect for the environment?
Respect for nature is fundamental. In winter, snow covers vegetation, meaning certain precautions that apply in summer are different. While there is no question of picking flowers beneath the snow, it remains essential to stay attentive to local flora and preserve this fragile balance.

As for wildlife, the mountain follows nature’s rhythm: the night belongs to animals, while the day is shared with skiers. This alternation encourages respectful coexistence between humans and their environment. Off-piste skiing offers a rare feeling of being alone in the world — immersed in silence and adventure — provided one remains a mindful and respectful visitor of Mother Nature.

Winter Magic: Santa Claus enters the world of Offroad Club Monaco

To enrich its universe and capture the imagination, Offroad Club Monaco unveils a series of original videos featuring Santa Claus at the heart of its emblematic disciplines. Skis on his feet, Santa first joins the Scuola Sci Limone, before taking the wheel of a Jeep in collaboration with BPM Exclusive, and then stopping by the Offroad Club Monaco boutique

The sequence continues on the water, with filming at the Yacht Club de Monaco, where two jet skis embody a contemporary vision of outdoor sports and sustainable mobility. Dressed as Santa Claus and Christmas elves, the riders perform in a festive atmosphere resolutely focused on innovation.

One of the bioethanol-powered jet skis is piloted by Massimiliano Mordenti, while the 100% electric model by Taiga is entrusted to Kilian Miano, a rider from the Monégasque Powerboating Federation. Alongside them, Loren Pouget, support rider from the Roca Jet Club, and Filippo Brignone, Sales Manager Europe for Taiga, complete this dynamic scene.

Born in the Principality of Monaco, Offroad Club Monaco (OCM) was founded by Massimiliano Mordenti and Erminia Fezia Mordenti. An entrepreneur and passionate outdoor sports enthusiast, Massimiliano Mordenti has been based in Monaco since 2011 and is an active member of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, involved in several philanthropic initiatives.

Together, the founders uphold a strong vision of outdoor sport: a practice that goes beyond performance alone to become a true vehicle for self-improvement, innovation, and environmental preservation. OCM is rooted in a human and contemporary approach, viewing sport as a tool for personal transformation, intercultural dialogue, and collective construction, oriented toward the future and respectful of ecosystems.

Inspired by the legacy of great pioneers — including Monégasque figures such as Prince Albert I, a pioneer of oceanography — OCM interprets off-road practice as both a physical and philosophical experience: a space for exploration and human connection beyond marked paths.

This philosophy, expressed through the concept “The Wake of Monaco,” aims to create new routes and adventures starting from Monaco, enriched by interaction between people and a shared passion for outdoor sports, always returning to its origins — because Monaco is, and will always remain, the home of OCM.
