AELIS’s latest collection masterfully intertwines the themes of light and its absence, reflecting on human impact through a space archaeology lens. Inspired by satellite imagery of the Sahara and pyramids, the collection showcases fabrics illuminated by nano particles of precious metals, created in collaboration with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).

The collection features iconic recycled black velvet dresses from the Paris Opéra archives, reimagined by Sofia in collaboration with Christine Neumeister. These pieces, including a 1950s dress repurposed from a contemporary art performance, highlight the haute couture’s rich history. Standout items include a long-sleeved black velvet dress inspired by John Sargent's "Madame X" and adorned with an asymmetrical tattoo necklace by Les Interessants, and a Renaissance-shaped jacket intricately woven with gold and silver chains.

AELIS’s commitment to sustainability is evident in their collaboration with PolyU and Professor Kinor Jiang’s team, resulting in a “green” project where precious metals like gold and silver are delicately applied to organic silk organza using high-tech green technology. This method, employing magnetron sputtering coating, avoids the use of additives and eliminates pollution.

The collection features striking pieces such as a pyramid-shaped silver organza dress, a gold ball gown skirt adorned with vintage black feathers, and a dress with an oversized gold organza skirt. Additionally, an asymmetrical gold organza tunic showcases silk embroidery from a treasured 1924 gown.

The collection was presented in a white gallery designed by Pierre Bénard, creating a "Kubrickian" atmosphere with contemporary design works and Roman antiques under zenithal light. This setting underscores AELIS’s eco-conscious ethos, highlighting their prestigious upcycling partnership with Opéra de Paris and innovative collaboration with PolyU. Together, they exemplify a multicultural effort to transform the future of fashion and reduce human impact on the planet.
