Creation is both a generative and regenerative act, and this season, Sofia explores the vital energy that an égérie—the muse—brings to a garment, transforming each piece into a living work of art.
A Tribute to Legacy and Evolution
This collection pays homage to Suzanne Tarasieve, a dear friend and muse of AELIS, through an exhibition piece displayed in her namesake gallery. Invited by Eva Jospin, Sofia celebrates the transcendence of hand-made couture—where a garment, when worn, acquires symbolic and emotional significance.
The creative exchange with L’Opéra de Paris and Christine Neumeister continues to inspire Sofia’s work, reflected in the airy elegance of silk mousseline pieces that echo the movement of butterfly wings. Voluminous, ethereal, and fluid, these creations embody the poetic dance between fabric and motion.
An ivory empire dress in tulle, delicately embroidered with ears of wheat, drapes gracefully over the silhouette, held in place by structured black silk tulle bands. Similarly, a white double-circle skirt in silk satin becomes a canvas for delicate black silk tulle bands that frame the body’s fluidity.
Lace, a key element of the collection, bridges the past and the future. Sofia incorporates antique silk lace from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, interwoven with contemporary experimentation. In collaboration with Jordan Tartlet, head of the AI team, AELIS ventures into a hybrid future, where the fusion of human craftsmanship and digital design gives rise to a new dimension of sustainable couture. The collection marks the early stages of this exploration, emphasizing a balance between the organic and the artificial, the human and the vegetal worlds.
Jewelry and embellishments crafted by Les Interessants punctuate the collection with delicate intricacies. The "Eyeliner Jewel", composed of fragile metal jersey bands and crystal pearls, frames the gaze with ethereal elegance. A "sautoir" of pearls enhances a silk mousseline gown, gifted by Julie Doidy, demonstrating the beauty of upcycling. Meanwhile, a scarf adorned with vintage jets and feathers perches on the shoulder of a wool and silk men’s jacket, evoking the precision of haute couture tailoring.
Les Interessants also reimagines footwear through a pair of 1980s punk-inspired pumps, crafted from upcycled materials, reinforcing AELIS’s commitment to sustainability.
